WHO I AM
I’m Gurdeep Sandhu, a filmmaker, director, and cinematographer based in Canada, originally from Punjab, India. My journey into filmmaking began with a deep fascination for visual storytelling and the power of cinema to communicate emotion, atmosphere, and meaning through imagery.
As both a director and cinematographer, I approach every project with a clear vision and purpose. I enjoy shaping a story from concept to final frame—crafting mood through lighting, color, and cinematic composition while guiding the narrative through direction and performance. My goal is to create visuals that feel immersive, intentional, and emotionally resonant.
I have also had the opportunity to collaborate with artists from the Punjabi music industry, including directing the music video Hawa Mohabbat for Satinder Sartaaj, an internationally acclaimed Punjabi-Sufi singer, poet, and performer known for his soulful music and poetic storytelling.
My creative philosophy is simple: Film with Intent. Every frame, movement, and lighting choice should serve the story and carry meaning. Through this approach, I strive to craft cinematic visuals that are not only aesthetically powerful but also purposeful and emotionally engaging.
For me, filmmaking is more than capturing images—it’s about transforming ideas into stories that leave a lasting impression.
